I've been on something for the last few months and I'm excited to share it with the world 🌎
What is GramGram?
GramGram (noun): derived from two words: Grandma and Instagram 📸
GramGram is a way to share Instagram photos with your offline followers by sending them physical photos in the mail. Your Grandma might not be on Instagram but that doesn't need to mean that she's missing out on updates in your life.
Where did the idea come from?
The idea came from talking with my wife. Her grandmother recently just got a jitterbug phone ☎️. For those of you that don't know, a jitterbug is a cellphone that has large-print buttons to help users with arthritis. Grandma has figured out how to receive texts but she can't currently respond. So my wife and I have been sending her photo text messages whenever we think of it. We never hear back if she enjoyed the pictures or even if she got them until the whole family's together at the holidays.
Not all of our relatives are as tech-enabled as my wife's grandmother. And I surely don't call my grandma as much as I should. I wanted another way to keep in touch with my grandma. I wanted an easy way to let her know I was thinking about her.
How does it work?
First, you pick a photo that you want to send. I can be anything from baby pictures of your firstborn or maybe that time you climbed a mountain, or the last time the whole family was together. Next, add a caption to give Grandma some context. If there are multiple people in the photo, you will definitely want to grab credit. Finally, tell us Grandma's address. We handle the rest by converting the photo into a postcard and sending it in the mail.
